| <lead>Your Roku needs to have a reliable internet connection, either via wired ethernet or a strong wireless connection (preferably using WiFi 5 or later, using the 5GHz band). The app does not work outside of your home network, and the Roku needs to be connected to the same local network as HDHomeRun tuner.</lead> |
| |
<lead>The HDHomeRun works by providing live TV to your home computer network from over-the-air TV broadcasts using an antenna (or from a cable TV provider if they support CableCARD, DVB-C, or clearQAM). This allows you to use your own devices in your home, such as phones, tablets, laptops, computers, set top boxes, and more, to watch live TV.</lead> | ===== Install the app on your Roku ===== |
| |
===== Quick start guide =====
One HDHomeRun can be accessed from the entire home network/wifi, and each home can have multiple HDHomeRun units. If you have multiple units then the HDHomeRun software will automatically consolidate them into one seamless channel list.
| |

| ==== No audio ==== |
| <WRAP indent> |
| To hear audio, you need a TV, AV receiver, or soundbar that can decode Dolby Digital or AC3 audio over HDMI. Most modern TVs can do this, though we’ve noticed a few Samsung TVs cannot. All Roku televisions should be able to play audio without any trouble. |
| |
| **Roku audio settings:** |
| - Go to the **Roku home screen** |
| - Then navigate to **"Settings"** -> **"Audio"** |
| - Select **"Streaming audio format"** and change it to **"Dolby"** |
| - Go back to **Audio** and select **"Digital output format"** |
| - and change **"Digital output format"** mode to **"Custom" → "Dolby" → "Dolby Digital"** |
| |

=== Computers and laptops === | ==== ATSC 3.0 ==== |
| <WRAP indent> |
| * To receive most ATSC 3.0 broadcasts you will need a Roku device that supports the AC-4 audio codec, such as a recent Roku TV set, or the 2020 Roku Ultra or later (but not the "LT" version). If you do not have a Roku TV set or Roku Ultra that supports AC-4, we would recommend using an inexpensive "Google TV" device with your TV set, instead of buying a new Roku Ultra, as Google TV devices tend to be less expensive and have less issues with live TV. Please open a support ticket for the latest information and advice regarding AC-4 support: **[[:Support ticket]]** |

=== Other === | * DRM-restricted ATSC 3.0 channel support is being worked on and is not yet supported. |
