The HDHomeRun is a network-attached digital TV tuner. It connects to your antenna or cable line (depending on model) and takes the digital TV signals available there and makes them available to your PC, tablet, smartphone, game consoles, and other devices over your existing home network.

HDHomeRun SERVIO (HHDD-2TB) is designed to act as a fully self-contained DVR Engine and Storage device for HDHomeRun Tuners. The SERVIO can serve as storage for all modern HDHomeRun devices. Much as it is possible to use two CONNECT devices together at the same time and pool the tuners of those devices, it is possible to use multiple SERVIO devices for additional storage. At present this item is only available in the US, but a broader roll out is planned.

HDHomerun SCRIBE Duo (HDVR-2US-1TB)/ HDHomeRun SCRIBE Quatro (HDVR-4US-1TB) are designed to receive over the air ATSC broadcasts in the US, Canada, Mexico, and other locations that utilize the ATSC broadcast standard and record those broadcasts using built in 1TB storage without need of a PC, NAS, or other external DVR client. HDHomeRun SCRIBE Duo has 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once. HDHomeRun SCRIBE Quatro has 4 tuners, allowing you to access 4 channels at a time. At present these items are only available in the US, but a broader roll out is planned.

HDHomeRun PRIME (HDHR3-CC) is designed to receive subscription digital cable from US-based cable providers such as Comcast/Xfinity, Cox, Charter Spectrum, Cablevision/Optimum, Mediacom, Verizon Fios, Frontier FiOS, and others. It uses a CableCARD that you rent from the cable provider to get access to all the channels that are part of your cable subscription. It has 3 tuners, allowing you to access 3 channels at once.

HDHomeRun CONNECT (HDHR4-2US)/HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo (HDHR5-2US)/HDHomeRun CONNECT Quatro (HDHR5-4US) are designed to receive over the air ATSC broadcasts in the US, Canada, Mexico, and other locations that utilize the ATSC broadcast standard. HDHomeRun CONNECT and HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo have 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once. HDHomeRun CONNECT Quatro has 4 tuners, allowing you to access 4 channels at a time. HDHomeRun CONNECT (HDHR4-2US) is a previous generation model that has been retired; HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo (HDHR5-2US) is its direct replacement.

HDHomeRun CONNECT and HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo have 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once. HDHomeRun CONNECT Quatro has 4 tuners, allowing you to access 4 channels at a time. HDHomeRun CONNECT (HDHR4-2DT) is a previous generation model that has been retired in all regions except Australia/New Zealand; HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo (HDHR5-2DT) is its direct replacement.

HDHomeRun CONNECT (HDHR4-2IS) is designed to receive over the air ISDB-T broadcasts in South America, Central America, and other locations using the Brazilian standard. HDHomeRun CONNECT has 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once.

HDHomeRun Extend (HDTC-2US) has the same features as HDHomeRun CONNECT, plus adds the ability to convert the incoming video into H.264 format, making it more suitable for streaming over wireless connections and to portable devices like phones and tablets.

HDHomeRun EXPAND (HDHR3-4DC/HDHR5-4DC) is designed to receive unencrypted digital cable (DVB-C) signals in Europe. It has 4 tuners, allowing you to access 4 channels at once. HDHR5-4DC is a new generation model replacing the older HDHR3-4DC, which is being retired.

No. HDHomeRun devices connect to your home network, and are accessed by PCs and other devices on the network. To get the picture to a TV, you would connect your PC to your TV, use a media center extender like the Xbox in conjunction with your PC, use a Playstation 3, or use the DLNA functionality present in some TVs to stream directly from the HDHomeRun. No. Satellite uses a different transmission system than broadcast or cable TV, and there is no requirement for satellite providers to make their systems available to customer-owned hardware, so they don’t. Their set top boxes do not output a signal that is compatible with any HDHomeRun device.

No. Set top boxes do not output a digital signal that the HDHomeRun is capable of receiving. HDHomeRun PRIME can be used with a CableCARD™ available from all standard cable providers in the US in order to receive subscription digital cable channels. Other HDHomeRun devices can be used to receive over the air broadcasts with an antenna.

HDHomeRun app:

Our HDHomeRun app is free to download and lets you watch Live TV with 24hours of electronic program guide – using our SliceView™ EPG which maximizes screen viewing while channel surfing. You can also pause live TV for upto 60 minutes or rewind upto 5 minutes. It has a unified interface across devices and includes program image posters and synopsis, automatic channel rescan, 5.1 Dolby surround, closed captioning and many other great features.

You can also activate our multi user, multi room, whole home DVR solution which extends your SliceView™ EPG to 14 days. It allows you to record films, sports, whole series and watch on the widest range of compatible smart devices around your home with a unified viewing experience. You can pause on one device and resume on another using our Seamless Viewing™. The subscription cost is $35/year for your whole home (that includes as many devices as you wish).

HDHomeRun operating temperature is 0-40 °C (32-104 °F) ambient. You should attempt to avoid operating it in places that exceed this temperature.
