Reboot loop or unexpected reboot with USB drive attached
Symptom: The HDHomeRun FLEX works when there is no USB drive connected, reboots repeatedly when the USB drive is connected (immediately or only when recording).
Possibility 1: Some NVMe USB 3.1/3.2 drives draw more than 1A which is only allowed when connected to a USB 3.1/3.2 port. Drawing more than 1A is not allowed when connected to a USB 2.0/3.0 port.
The HDHomeRun FLEX supports USB 2.0/3.0 drives up to 1A. Using a drive that draws more than 1A can cause the HDHomeRun FLEX to reboot due to the power adapter protection circuit kicking in.
Solution: We recommend replacing the drive with a conventional USB hard drive.
Possibility 2: Some low cost USB flash drives report fake capacity, for example they may be a 1GB flash drive falsely sold as / falsely reporting to be a 1TB flash drive.
When the HDHomeRun FLEX attempts to use the fake flash drive it will fail and the HDHomeRun FLEX may reboot to try again to initialize it.
Solution: We recommend replacing the drive with a conventional USB hard drive.
